Correspondence
The following correspondence was included in LUFA News,
December, 2005:
On
behalf of Local 229, I would like to express our heartfelt appreciation
for your thoughtful and generous donation and words of encouragement.
I can’t begin to express how much your support has meant to our unit at
Lakehead
University
, many of whom are women who have shown incredible courage.
Taking the time to acknowledge their struggle has mattered a great
deal. Assistance
such as yours made the recent right our members encountered with their
employer a little more bearable.
No one knows better than union members the importance of standing
together.
Because of the incredible support from the labour movement, we were
recently able to bargain a good agreement that did not include desecrating
our contracting our language, and was ratified by 94%.
For this, you have our thanks.
In solidarity,
Andy Savela

Please convey our thanks to
your members who so generously voted to donate to our fund.
We have been receiving cards and e-mails from so many teachers
thanking us.
Cindy Oliver, President
Federation
of Post-Secondary Educators of BC
Note:
In solidarity, the
Lakehead
University
Faculty Association voted on October 21st, 2005 to send a donation in the
amount of $1,000 to the "Feed the Teachers Fund".
